As Bihar’s construction sector accelerates into a new phase of growth, the upcoming Construction Materials Exhibition will play a pivotal role in supporting this momentum. It will showcase a wide range of essential building materials and solutions—connecting manufacturers with contractors, engineers, architects, and developers. By fostering business linkages and promoting product awareness, the exhibition aligns with the state’s infrastructure priorities and expanding market demand.
This growing demand is rooted in Bihar’s emergence as a key growth engine in Eastern India, where the secondary sector—comprising manufacturing, construction, and utilities—is driving significant economic momentum. In 2022–23, manufacturing contributed 37 per cent to the GSDP of the secondary sector, reflecting the state’s growing industrial capabilities and rising need for infrastructure, machinery, and building materials.
Bihar is rapidly emerging as a key growth engine in Eastern India, with its secondary sector—comprising manufacturing, construction and utilities—driving significant economic momentum. In 2022–23, manufacturing contributed 37 per cent to the GSDP of the secondary sector, reflecting the state’s growing industrial capabilities and rising demand for infrastructure, machinery, and building materials.
Complementing this is the booming construction sector, which has become the largest contributor to the secondary sector, accounting for 50.2 per cent of its GSDP. With an impressive 22 per cent growth rate between 2021–22 and 2022–23, construction has become a vital pillar of Bihar’s development story, supported by surging investments in real estate, public infrastructure, and urban expansion. Furthermore, the real estate sector’s share in GSVA has grown from 13.7 per cent in 2017–18 to 14.1 per cent in 2023–24.
The construction sector contributes 18.2 per cent to total state employment, the sector’s rapid expansion—combined with a 5 per cent increase in urban population since 2011—signals growing opportunities for construction-linked industries and service providers.
